Joel W. Meskin, Esq., has been Vice President – Community Association Insurance and Risk Management, McGowan & Company, Inc., since January, 2005. McGowan & Company, Inc., now known as McGowan Program Administrators is a leading provider of Community Association and Property Manager Insurance Products nationwide. Joel is the former Senior Vice President, Ian H. Graham Insurance from 2001 and 2004. Joel is an attorney who spent 15 years specializing in insurance coverage, business and related litigation. Joel is also an insurance broker who first obtained his license in 1981. He obtained the designation of a Community Insurance & Risk Management Specialist (“CIRMS”) by the Community Associations Institute in 2005 and is a member of the CAI’s Insurance Networking committee.
Joel has been intimately involved with the community association industry, as well as the community and property manager industry for many years, insuring over 75,000 community associations nationwide, involved in producing insurance policy products and is engaged in risk management. Joel lectures and presents seminars to organizations, companies and associations nationwide. Some of these groups include: the National Community Association Institute, The National Community Association Law Conference, The National CIRMS Master Insurance Program, local CAI chapters, the California Association of Community Managers, Property management Companies and community associations and their boards. These lectures include various community association insurance topics, directors and officers liability insurance, community association fraud, community association claims, community and property manager claims and association risk management. Joel is the author of the numerous articles and papers published in various periodicals including Rough Notes, New York Times, New England Condominium magazine, Florida Community Association magazine, Condo Media Magazine, Quorum, The New York, Massachusetts, Florida and New Jersey Cooperator journal, Condo Management Magazine and numerous local CAI Chapter newsletters.
Joel is a graduate of the University of California at Los Angeles and the Southwestern University School of Law. Joel Also studied for a year at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
