President: Andrea M. Sorgani: Owner and president of ALMA Property Management Services, Inc. since 1991. Member of CAI since 1983. Have served on CAI Program Committee, Social Committee, Homeowner Forum, and Finance Committee. Received CAI-Illinois Rising Star award in 1998 and CAI-Illinois Olympus Award in 2003. Member of the CAI-IL Board of Directors 2006-current. Serving a second year as the current CAI-IL Board president. Guest speaker on CAI Radio. Speaker at various community association industry seminars. Author of Common Interest Magazine articles. Member of ACTHA. Graduate of Southern Illinois University – Degree in Social Welfare. Vice President: Tim Haviland, CMCA®: Currently serves as a Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer of Itasca Bank & Trust Co. Tim has over 12 years of commercial banking experience with a focus on the Chicago area Homeowner Association (HOA) industry since 2003. During 2004, Tim was named a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) by the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers. The CMCA® designation is awarded to community association professionals nationwide who have demonstrated the fundamental knowledge necessary to manage condominium, cooperative, and homeowner associations.
Tim is active in various industry events sponsored by the Community Associations Institute (CAI). He has published articles in Common Interest, the quarterly magazine for the Illinois Chapter of CAI. Tim has been a host and frequent guest on Common Interest Radio, a weekly radio broadcast on WIND (AM 560), featuring homeowner association news and industry experts, sponsored by the Illinois Chapter of CAI. During 2008, he was presented with the Olympus Service Award, and previously with the 2005 Rising Star Award from the Illinois Chapter of CAI.
Tim is currently the chair person of the CAI-Illinois Community Development Committee, as well as a member of the Radio Committee and the Magazine Committee since 2004.
Treasurer: Steve Silberman, CPA: Steve Silberman is an Officer and Director of the accounting and consulting firm, Frost, Ruttenberg and Rothblatt, P.C. Steve has provided accounting and consulting services to Community Associations since 1978 and currently provides services to over 300 Associations. Steve has been a presenter for numerous CAI educational programs as well as authored many articles for newsletters and magazines including Common Interest Magazine. He has also been a guest on Common Interest Radio. Steve has been an active member of the CAI-Illinois Community Development Committee for the past three years.
Secretary: Lara Anderson: Lara A. Anderson is a partner with Tressler LLP, and manages their Community Association Law Practice. Tressler LLP is a national law firm with offices in Los Angeles, CA, Orange County, CA, New York, NY, Newark, NJ, Bolingbrook, IL, Chicago, IL and Wheaton, IL. Mrs. Anderson works out of the firm’s Bolingbrook, Illinois office.
Mrs. Anderson graduated with honors from Northern Illinois University with a B.S. in Accounting in 1989, passed the CPA exam and then graduated from Northern Illinois University’s College of Law in 1992. Mrs. Anderson began her legal career representing local, state and federal public officials and public entities as well as not-for-profit organizations in complex constitutional and civil rights matters before administrative agencies and in state and federal courts. She eventually transitioned her practice into representing just condominium and common interest community associations. During her career, Mrs. Anderson has had the opportunity to argue before the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and, most recently, she represented a homeowners association before the Indiana Supreme Court. In that case, Villas West II v. McGlothin, 885 N.E. 2d 1274 (2008), Mrs. Anderson convinced the Indiana Supreme Court to reverse the lower court and hold that the association’s rental restrictions did not violate the Fair Housing Act.
Mrs. Anderson is currently a member of the Board of Directors and Secretary of CAI-Illinois and a member of the Committee for Community Development for CAI-Illinois. She was formerly the Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee for CAI. She is considered an expert in the field and is frequently asked to speak before various groups on association issues. Ms. Anderson has been a presenter at the last four CAI-Illinois State Conventions and the 2009 CAI National Law Seminar held in California. Mrs. Anderson has written numerous articles that have appeared in a variety of publications and is the editor of the Condominium and Community Association Law Newsletter which is published by Tressler, LLP.
Mrs. Anderson is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the DuPage County Bar Association and the Will County Bar Association. She is licensed to practice in Illinois, The U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Cathy Blake, AMS®, PCAM®: Cathy is a Community Association Manager with American Community Management. She has filled a variety of positions since joining the industry in March 1978 – from clubhouse attendant, to on-site and portfolio management, and supervisory duties for several management companies. Cathy earned her AMS® designation in 1995 and her PCAM® designation in 2003. She has been an active member of CAI and has served on several Chapter Committees during her career including the Trade Show Committee, Social Committee, Membership Committee, Manager’s Committee, and Golf Committee.
Boyd Briscoe: Boyd Briscoe, a retired financial executive of a large natural gas company, is a Homeowner Volunteer representative on the Board of Directors. He has lived in a community association for 22 years and served on its Board of Directors multiple terms. He is also a past president of the Naperville Area Homeowners Confederation, an umbrella organization of over 140 individual residential community associations in Naperville. Boyd has served on the Chapter's Board of Directors for the past eight years and has been an active member on many committees, primarily, Illinois Legislative Action, Finance, Annual Conference and Trade Show, Homeowners Forum, Membership Directory and Nominations. He is also a past Treasurer of the Illinois Chapter.
Michaelene Conrad: Over the last 22 years Michaelene has been in the property management field. Due to her background of service and sales has been a good fit. For the first nine years Michaelene worked as a property manager for several companies. Her time with these companies brought her enough experience and insight to operate her own business for the past 13 years. Her company, MC Property Management Corp., manages over sixty Associations consisting of 5,000 units encompasses condominiums, townhomes, homeowner associations and rental properties. These properties are located in the suburbs and the city.
Michaelene earned her MIRM and CMCA® designation and she is a member of CAI and ACTHA Associations. Michaelene has been a member of the tradeshow committee for multiple years and been a speaker for CAI.
Thomas C. Engblom, CMCA®, AMS®: Tom Engblom is a licensed instructor in Illinois for all courses applicable to real estate and was Real Estate Coordinator at Prairie State College from 1986 until 2004. Tom has been a licensed Real Estate Broker since 1984 as well as a National Instructor for CAI.
Tom began a career in property management in 1984, and pursued several professional designations within the Property Management Industry, including the Certified Property Manager (CPM) from the Institute of Real Estate Management and the Professional Association Manager from Community Associations Institute.
From 1988 through 2004 Tom managed or supervised a minimum of 3,500 units within Chicago and the suburbs, with annual expenditures in excess of ten million dollars. These units consisted of condominiums, residential and commercial properties.
Furthermore, Tom completed his thesis paper for his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Governors State University. The thesis paper reviewed a comparative analysis of Certified Property Managers and Professional Community Association Managers Career Stratagem in Illinois. Tom is currently working on his Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
Tom continues to provide consulting work for various professional organizations and legal firms, as well as achieving Vice President at Community Association Banc servicing Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky and Ohio.
Erica R. Horndasch, CMCA®, AMS®: Industry Experience: 15 years Education: Harper College. Erica Horndasch has been active in Property and Community Management since the age of fifteen. Growing up in the industry, she has benefited from several real life situations that has awarded her the opportunity to share with the client and guide them in the right direction. She has a passion for management and looks at each day as a new challenge and an opportunity to enhance her customer service skills. Erica’s career path has afforded her the opportunity to work with several local management companies and has also given her the opportunity to work with an association law firm as a paralegal and collection manager. Erica was named the 2006 “Property Manager of the Year” by CAI. Erica serves on the local chapter Board of Directors for Community Association Institute (CAI) as well as serves on the trade show committee within CAI. Erica is a past President of a 364 unit HOA having experience not only as a manager, but as a Board member. Erica holds the designation of Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA®) and Association Management Specialist (AMS®) and continues her education in Association management.
Don Kekstadt, AMS®, PCAM®: Executive Vice President for Lieberman Management Services, Inc. Mr. Kekstadt has eighteen years of property management and maintenance experience. He is responsible for the overall management of approximately $3 billion dollars worth of real estate in the Chicagoland marketplace representing over 200 Associations, while being responsible for the retention and acquisition of new and existing clients. He also has a staff of over 30 Property Managers, 4 Regional Directors and a staff of 10 Resident Service Agents. Don is also a member of the LMS Executive Committee.
His previous work experience includes the position of Director of Maintenance at Arlington International Racecourse. Don has earned both the prestigious PCAM and AMS designations from the Community Associations Institute and owned and operated his own management company.
Carol Marcou, CMCA®, AMS® : Carol is a Senior Community Association Manager with Vanguard Community Management. Carol received her B.S. degree in business management from DePaul University in 1989 and worked through school as a legal assistant for a downtown Chicago law firm. Carol has been in the community association management business since 1991, starting out with her own small management company. Since that time, Carol has worked at various management companies and is currently a supervisor/senior manager at Vanguard. Carol has earned her CMCA and AMS designations and will be taking the PCAM in 2010. She has been an active member of CAI and has served on several committees during her career, including Trade Show Committee, Manager’s Committee and ILAC.
John Saletta: John is a homeowner within an association and is an agent with Allstate Insurance Company.
